Manuka (2.5-3 Years)

In the Manuka room we encourage our children to try new things and explore. We help support your child’s toilet learning and and follow their cues when they are ready to start this journey with us. We understand the vital role that authentic and trusting relationships play in ensuring each family develops a sense of belonging in our classroom. As a teaching team, we promote respectful and meaningful encounters through actively listening to each child and their family.  We are dedicated to working in partnership with each family and recognize the importance of celebrating the unique cultures and contributions of the Manuka whānau.

Environment

We provide a range of materials and loose parts based around our children’s current interests. This is observed through their free play. We encourage collaboration and project based learning as our children work together and learn from each other. We notice and recognise the child’s learning urges they are exploring and how we can extend their learning.

Transition

We encourage 3 settling visits, approximately 1 week before your child’s start date to ensure a smooth and settled transition for both you and your child. We welcome parents to stay for the first visit. Our Kaiako will talk with you about the best settling plan for your little one.

Communication

We welcome daily face-to-face catch ups about your child’s day at drop off and pick up time. Our main platform we use is Storypark, to share photos, videos and audio of your child’s development so you never miss out on those special moments.  Storypark also offer a handy mobile app so can have updates right to your smartphone.
